 Paint Protection Film Service

One of the most common concerns of new vehicle owners, or those who've had their vehicle repainted, is how to keep the new paint looking just as perfect as the day it was sprayed. High quality waxes and polishes can make the paint sparkle and shine but they have no ability to protect the paint from the ravages of the open road. This is an issue everywhere but especially for those owners who live in areas where there is a lot of Road Construction like San Antonio has going on. What can vehicle owners use to protect their pride and joy from things like gravel, dirt, sand, bugs and other road projectiles?

For many years vinyl nose masks, or "bras", have been popular. While they are widely available, they have downsides; they vibrate at speed and can scratch the paint they're designed to protect, they don't always fit very well, and they're prime bait for thieves. Concours Car Care offers a better alternative.
3M Paint Protection Film.

Q&A about Paint protection Film

What is Paint Protection Film?

Paint protection film (PPF) is a thermoplastic urethane film that is applied to the painted surfaces of a new or used car in order to protect the paint from stone chips, bug splatter and minor abrasions. It is professionally installed by  certified applicators using pre-cut kits that are computer cut for a specific car.

Can it be washed / waxed?

The film is meant to be maintained by washing and waxing on a regular basis but you should be careful that you're not using an abrasive polish on the film as this may scratch it. Also many waxes can build up residue along the edge of the film. Please ask your install technician for their recommendation on which products to use.

Why are your prices slightly higher than others I’ve called?

We truly believe that you get what you pay for. Our company does not price-match nor are we affected by companies that charge less. We focus on providing the highest degree of installation excellence; thus, our pricing structure reflects this. Newer companies into the industry rely on lower pricing to attract price sensitive customers because they can't compete on the quality side.

How long does it take to install a full kit?

With precut kits, installations are typically completed in 3-4 hours. At the custom level, it would depend on exact coverage to determine the amount of time.

I don’t like to see the line on the hood, can you cover the entire hood?

Yes, on most vehicles we can cover the full hood and entire vehicles if you wish to do so

What can be done about wax build up along the seams and how can I avoid it?

Most installers do not inform their customers about the “wax lines”. It is important for the vehicle’s owner to understand that wax will leave a white line on the seam. We would recommend not waxing over the seams and wax the film and uncovered portions separately to keep from wax buildup. If you accidentally wax over the seam, just use a wet towel and rub it off. Another caution is to avoid buffing over the seams, which creates a noticeable wax line as well. We use and recommend Optimum car wax for both paint and paint protection film as it contains no abrasives or solvents and will not leave behind any residue. Ask your installation tech for a demonstration of the Optimum car wax.
