Recently We had the pleasure to completely detail a 1988 Ferrari 328 GTS for one of our Customers. When the Ferrari was brought into the shop visually it was in poor condition. The customer wanted the entire car gone over including re-dyeing the carpets.
The Ferrari 328 GTB and GTS was the successor to the Ferrari 328 GTS While largely based on the 308 GTS respectively, small modifications were made to the body style and engine, including an increase in engine displacement to 3.2 L (3185 cc). 7,400 Ferrari 328s were produced by the time the model was replaced by the new 348 in 1989, bringing the total for the 308/328 generation to nearly 20,000. The 328 is considered by some Ferrari enthusiasts to be one of the most reliable Ferraris. In 1985, the 328 retailed from $58,400-$62,500
Getting Into The Details
We started by placing the car on our lift for an evaluation. The wheels were removed as well as the driver and passenger seat. All of the emblems and trim pieces that could be safely removed were.
The engine bay was steam cleaned, scrubbed, and dressed. The exterior black fiberglass trim and plastic trim parts were refinished with trim black paint.
After thorough decontamination & hand wash, the wheel wells and brake calipers were cleaned and scrubbed. They were then refinished with more trim black paint.
The paint correction work was done over a three-day period. The process was to first cut or compound the paint. This was due to the heavy scratching and environmental damage. This damage could have been caused by improper washing, bird droppings, and acid rain. We then started the polishing process with Optimum Polymer Technologies Hyper polish and Menzerna polishes. The Flex polisher was used for these steps and really brought the paint back to life.
The protection step was thin layers of high-grade carnauba wax. Hand-applied and hand polished.
Please watch the video below on this page. It’s truly a beautiful car when detailed properly.
